Analysis of digipack

Agony and Irony

This is one digipack which inspired us when deciding our own one. We used the idea of the heart and skull in our own digipack with the same colours red and black. The use of red and black makes it immediately recognisable to the fans of the band. These colours are similar in other bands which fall into the same genre for example Green day and bullet for my valentine. The image of the heart and the skull is universally recognisable to the bands followers and therefore this inspired us to do use the idea of a heart and a skull.

Beyonce

The lighting of this cover is a high key and it was purposely bright to brighten up the artist and make it the center of attention. The reason for making the artist look so bright is so that she looks more visible without the use of a closeup and therefore this benefits the audience. The costume that she is wearing is very revealing and she is wearing diamonds. The reason I analysed this is because it is opposite to the conventions of a rock digipack which we are doing. The diamonds are worn to draw attraction and they are usually associated with love and are a strong hardwearing and this relates to her as a strong women from what the media portrays her to be.
The front cover of this album uses the colour blue and the shade of blue that is used is light which I believe conveys importance and confidence and this relates to her staged pose that is on her front cover. The post that she is doing on the front cover suggests that she is independent and confident. Beyonce is positioned in the middle of the album cover and this suggests the album is about her and she is the centre of attention. It also gives us a feel that she is in control and in charge.

Greenday

This was another cover I found that caught mu eye as the colours are quite warm and appealing and this should work quite well with the ancillary tasks as the warm and fiery colours match the tigers personality as being angry. I really like how the colours contrast the background. The use of white for the font makes the cover stand out because the background has warm and dark colours.

All American Rejects

This is the album cover of the band “All American rejects”. The album cover is relatively simple but effective and the use of white font on the saturated colours ensure it stands out and the use of bright colours adds an appealing effect. I believe that the use of colour is important and it looks to be of high saturation so that they stand out. The use of red and green of the old vehicle compliment each other perfectly as they are opposite each other on the colour wheel. This produces the connotations of being carefree and fun. The name of the band is written in bold font and across three lines. The boldness is emphasised which makes It more attractive.
